Information Theft and Fraud. While checking my bank transactions on-line, I discovered an unidentified charge of $96.00 toward my checking account from "MWI Connections". I have never heard of this company and never performed any transactions with them. Neither has any other member of my household.
I will be contacting the Maryland State Attorney General's Office as well as the Montgomery County Consumer Affairs Office tomorrow. If any of you have similar agencies where you live, I suggest you do likewise. Also, it costs only $8.00 to sue in small claims court. If enough of us do these things, it could make a difference.
The big question is how does the MWI organization obtain people's credit card and banking information? They must be using spyware, or purloining information from legitimate concerns.in other words, they're stealing the information, which is a Federal Crime. Also suggest you contact www.fraud.org, fbi. Gov, or cybercrime. Gov.
