Tornado Office Systems
Company says they're moving. They're not

On 2/20/08 I was called by a man calling himself Drew Daniels from Tornado Office Systems. He claimed he had already spoken with our controller and referred to her by name. He assured me that the two of them had already discussed several items we might need but since I'm the office supply guru — he had been transferred to me. I listened to his BS spiel about moving to Arkansas, how he'd love to take me to lunch if I was ever in the area, blah. Blah. Blah.

I asked him how he developed the name "Tornado Office Systems" to which he replied "Well, my wife saw and a psychic who told her that if we put Tornado in the name of our business, we would be safe." Clearly his Psychic was about as genuine as he is — because the internet is peppered with scam reports about this company. It may have worked thus far — but I've told our accounting department to cut absolutely no checks to this company and any packages will be returned immediately and unopened.

I left them a voicemail yesterday insisting that they won't receive a cent and any shipped supplies would be refused. Some woman from the company actually had the nerve to call me back this morning and tell me that I would be faxed a confirmation that no items would be shipped. I said "Great. Fax it right now." The woman agreed — and three hours later — there has been no fax from them. I left a "friendly" reminder message on their direct-to-voicemail phone line to please fax it again.

If you are reading this after the fact and have already placed an order with them, notify your accounting department immediately and be sure that whoever receives your packages refuses delivery and has it sent back.

And as a personal aside to the "employees" of Tornado Office Systems — I feel sympathy for you. I sympathize with the fact that your life has obviously turned out so poorly that this is what you have reduced yourself to — just to make a quick buck.
