Mark Conlee and his ex-wife rented the property adjoining mine from Mayor Dinwiddie. She moved out a couple weeks later he moved out and moved in with her. Dinwiddie sold the property to Conlee when they divorced. Both Conlee and I have 6 half lots 70' x 300'. My property adjoins the "Citys" streets Conlee's property adjoins the "City's" alley. Conlee's lot had a 1972 double wide mobile home and a single car garage. He built a new 2 story garage on the back 2 lots intending to build the upper level of his garage into a liviing quarters. Councilman Mark Hollland was the appointed building administrator the permit was issued, approved and signed by owner/builder Mark Conlee as required by State law.

A whirlwind romance of 2 weeks Conlee married a woman with substancial financial resorces. 2 weeks later a fire destroied the existing double-wide mobile home. There were 4 firemen who responded to the 911 calll. Mayor Dinwiddie, Mark Conlee and Mark Hollland stood together on the sidewalk for more than 3 hours. Jake Holland alone took any action to fight the fire. He hooked the firehose to the hydrant but no water was ever sprayed on the fire. Jake Holland told me later that there was a fire in a trailer court 2 weeks prior to Conlees cause by the same thing. I believe it was a can of bug fogger set off to close to the gas water heater pilot light. Being a trained fireman Conlee knows not to set a flammable near a pilot light.
