I too have been ripped off by "Americas Pride"... A sad sad name to use.

I ordered an Automotive Lift via phone call with Fred Navas in July. I was told they had a sale going on, and based off of the information on their website www.americasprideonline.com and what Fred had told me I decided to order a Universal Lift at a price of roughly $3000 dollars. Come November (4 months later) I still had no lift. I had been in contact with Mr Mike Nees and a "Becky". I received an e-mail from Becky stating that there had been a manufacturing or production confusion error between AMPRO and their manufacturing plant and that my current lift was another 6 weeks in delay.

Six weeks passed and I tried to contact AMPRO and for a few weeks received no reply. Then received another email that was an exact copy of the previous email notifying me that there was a 6 week delay. I call AMPRO very frustrated now that it has been half a year and I still have no Lift. I am assured that they are not another 6 weeks out, only another two...!

After another month of constant phone calls, emails and lies that someone wasn't it, it was the Chinese New year, someone was sick, or just plain being hung-up on for several months, I received a tracking number. Now the timeline has approached March (coming up on 9 months) and something supposedly has arrived at my closest truck terminal for me to pick up.

I get to the terminal and the lift is very poorly packed, damaged, missing pieces and not even the correct lift... It has been substituted for with a similar piece of equipment. I decide to take it for what I have and call AMPRO on the spot at the terminal, they say they are very sorry and will ship out the missing pieces right away.

Several weeks later I receive some of the parts that were missing, not all. These parts that were incorrect were the lift arms that hold the car up in the air. It looked as if a person who had never even seend a welder or welded before in their lift had hacked something up and tried to put it together. These things would have kill anyone who had tried to use them. I call Mr. Nees and ask him how this got through their quality system and he assured me that they were of satisfactory strength and quality. Anyone with eyes could plainly see they were not. I ask for the correct arms and get no replys and shady calls and emails.

Fast forward again and It has now passed July of MORE THAN 1 YEAR. I still have the wrong lift, missing parts, and am having an even more difficult time trying to contact someone at AMPRO. I finally say that I have had enough and am going to contact an attorney because this isn't getting resolved after 1 year.

I have my lawyer send a notice to Mike Nees at AMPRO stating that I would like the correct lift, with all the proper parts I was promised and payed for. Several weeks go by with no phone call, no emails, not even a letter in the snail mail for a response.

My attorney sends out a notice with all the current evidence and paperwork that will be used in a lawsuit if no response is givin within two weeks. Finally, after about a week Mr. Nees sends a reply, and quite a friendly one at that (read saracasm). Basically he says that this is bull and he is insulted and this is very unprofessional, that we are trying to screw him and that we are jerks... And thats putting it very nicely.

We ask if we can just have the lift picked up at AMPROs exspense, and that the truck company will need a forklift to pick up the lift (2000lb package) and that all money can be returned and we will all just forget it ever happened. Mr. Nees agrees and sets up a time for pickup at my residence. The truck arrives with no type of lifting equipment to get the lift onto the truck. I have to have the truck driver come back the next day and borrow a forklift to get it done myself!

For the next several weeks there is no sign of my returned money anywhere and no contact with AMPRO. I have my attorney contact AMPRO and there are no responses from phone calls or from emails or from regular mail.

A lawsuit was filed, the sherriff serves Mr. Nees at AMPRO in Massachusettes. Of course, no one shows up in court because thats the easy way to try and get out of the situation for them. The judge files in favor of the plaintiff (myself).

It is now the end of January. I still have no money, and no lift. I am in the process now of trying to find the account where my money is currently at, and then will have to go back through the legal system some more to get it, as well as recoup any of my costs from them.
