B-Line Marketing - CV Marketing
Lied, misrepresented all aspects of their company

Miscellaneous

Ok, so i went on an interview with B-Line Marketing. The first interview was just to filter out the people that they didnt want so they could call back those that they were interesed in. Brad, the head guy, told me a little bit about the company. They are a sports and entertainment marketing firm. They work with the Atl braves, Thrasher, Hawks, Falcons, as well as with golf resorts and salons and spas in the area. He said that all employees train from the ground up. You start with outside sales. I asked him to define outside sales. He said that i would not be doing door-to-door, if thats what i was worried about. That it is strictly business to business and i will be a sales rep for the company. I made sure to specifically ask is it doo-to-door one more time and he said absolutely not. At the end of the 1st interview Brad went ahead and invited me back for round two because he saw "management potential."

The second interview i got to meet with some of the other sales reps and managers for the company. They told me that they had a sister company in Marietta called CV Marketing. Then they told me that i was going to go with one of their managers to meet a couple of their clients to see exactly what it is that they did for them. Ok, sounds good. See what they company really does. Bells and whistles should have been going off at this point but im fresh out of school and want to give them the benefit of a doubt. I was with one other that was in my same position, and the 'manager.' we went out in their car, and get this, started going door to door in businesses! The little twit lied to me. And they kept me and the other interviewee all day. The 'manager' wouldnt take us back to our cars because it would cut into her sales time and she had to make money. The only benefit of the day is that she bought us lunch at chick-fil-a. You better believe i got the most expensive thing on the menu. Aparantly the first to levels of the company are all door-to-door. Its not until step 3 that you are in the office and at step 4 you are a manager with your own firm. This 'manager' was selling d-2-d for over a year, and still not at level 3. Aparantly starting at level 2 you become a manager, just not sure what you are managing when you are stuck out in the cold all day. Oh, and we were chased away by security sesveral times because soliciting in these kinds of places is illegal. I actually thought that i was going to end up in jail on my 'interview.'

When we finally got back to the office at about 5:15, i confronted Brad. Called him out on lieing to me, His sales managers are nothing but grunts working hard all day so he can make money, and that his entire business is bullshit! He instantly began to twist his words. He said that i wouldnt do d-2-d at people's houses, it was businesses that we were selling to. These businesses are the strip malls you see in every city. His managers were all in training so that they call all retire early. Yaddaa yaddaa, i walked out in the middle of his excuses.

SO what did we learn? Dont ever leave with a potential employer for any reason. If it is important enough, the clients can meet you at the interview.
