Periodical And Publication Connection
Fraudulent, scammers

Miscellaneous

Last year, a young man rang my door bell and said he was the son of a doctor who lived across the street from my community. He was clean cut, well spoken and very well mannered.

He said he was trying to raise money for a trip with his softball team by selling books to be donated to a charity of our choice. He had a certain amount he needed to finally reach his goal, and I fell for it. I wrote him a check for a good portion.

We didn't realize it was a scam until a good six months later when we inquired as to whether this charity received the books. They had no idea what I was talking about.

Since that time, we have been trying to find this company through a copy of the cancelled check to no avail.

Just tonight, I was again approached (as I was pulling into my garage) by a young gentlemen named Matthew Tukch (supposedly) and said he was the son of a neighbor down the street from us. I instantly knew this was a scam and asked to see his info. He only had a receipt (which he gives out for the donations) and would not let me make a copy of take the receipt. So, I wrote down the info from the receipt.

I am alerting everyone in my town (through the police department) about this scam.

I hope we can get these frauds.
