Replaced by a boy-toy without notice

I had worked at this store as an asst manager for approx. 8months, I had to take a leave of absense for personal reasons and in the meantime of being off, I had called the manager (Linda) and left a ton of messages for her to call me and let me know what my schedule would be upon my return to work. I did not hear back from her, until the day I was suppose to work-she had called me two and a half hrs later and left a voice mail on my machine, in which it stated, " I had you scheduled to open the store this morning, I did not hear from you, so you are a no-call, no-show and you know what that means", you no longer work here.

Prior to my taking a leave of absense, she had hired two gentlemen that she had previously worked with at a totally different retail store, at which she hired them at four dollars more than what i was making, and they were to be just cashiers (and I was the asst. Manager), needless to say, she was really close with one of the men, and had stated since she hired him that she was going to make him asst manager, so needless to say that is exactly what she did with no warning to me, and she did it in such a sneaky way, to make it look like i did not show up for work on purpose, and now they are fighting the unemployment on me.

I wish i would not have lost the voice mail that she left.

The store has not been managed right for a very long time. They can not keep anyone working there because they (Family Dollar Store) treat everyone like crap, no respect, nothing.

In or around August of this yr, my god childs baby child (of just 4months) passed away, I had asked or stated I wanted it off, they refused me! I could not beleive my ears, stated there was no one else to cover my shift, goes to show how much they care about the people that work for them or the customers for that fact. It truely is not a nice store to shop in anymore, not since Linda took over anyway..
