Close your doors when young teens out of high school asks you to help them win points to trips

Two young men came to my door and started talking to me really friendly. I was among their age so we chatted for a while. They asked me what my interests are and what my major is since I'm attending college. They told me that they are out of high school and couldn't go to college. They claimed that they are in National... Award and even showed their ID's to me saying that they're trying to win a trip to Europe. And I asked them how I could help them, inside my mind, I already figured that somehow I have to pay them. With no hesitation, they showed me a tri-fold where I could order magazines. I said I don't read magazines but they insisted that I should take a look. So I did and I said I don't like anything from here. Afterwards they showed me a green paper and I picked out the OK! Magazine subscriptions. I asked them what was the cost and they said they don't know until they fill out a receipt. I started getting suspicious and didn't question them. As they jot down my name, address, and phone number, I got more suspicious because they didn't even know what city it is. After they finished filling out the receipt they said it was $93 and I was really upset and shocked! I ended up writing a check to them payable to "Tower of Power Sales Inc." and they happily trotted away. Right when I closed the door I searched online for Tower of Power Sales and it got me to this site. I immediately called my bank, cancelled my check and changed my account number.

I am so glad that i found out or else i would've got scammed so much money! =[
