Publishers Business Services
Ripoff Deceptive practices catch busy people at work and then try to con you out of money

Miscellaneous

I got a call from someone from this company asking if I'd take a quick survey about my reading habits. Being busy and distracted at work, I said ok. That was my first mistake. I should've hung up on the spot and not let it go any further. I answered the questions and then they asked for my address (stupid me gave it to them) so they could send me my free "gift." They then called to confirm my information. I thought I was just going to get information on some cheap magazine subscriptions. What I got instead was an invoice for $720.00!!! I knew this was coming because I had read about all of the other incidents on this site.

Before I recieved this invoice. I notified customer service (believe it or not, I actually talked to someone) that I did not want to receive anything from their company or I would be forced to take action.

After getting this invoice, I copied everything and I have decided to bring the boom down on them. I warned them and they messed with the wrong guy. I just feel suckered. I'm only 22 but I pride myself on being immune to these a-holes. So now I have just finished filing complaints with the Missouri Attorney General and FCC (for unfair telemarketing). I am also sending a complaint to Nevada's Attorney general and considering sending one to Florida's as well (b/c they have offices in FLA and NV). I will also be sending certified mail to their offices demanding that they cancel my account.By the way, that whole "non-cancelable" contract b/c they tape recorded it is complete bull.

Don't feel bad if you get conned into this. After reading all of the complaints, it's not an isolated incident and there is hope. I am hoping that the actions I have taken will get it resolved quickly. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know!
