Taken for a ride

On the 28 th. Of December I contacted Transflorida Corp after seeing their Ad.in a widely read publication.

On the 29 th. I was contacted by their representative, a Mr. Richard Howe, who by the way was a most friendly chap, and a contract was signed to install a false ceiling and fluted clolumns at my property. I advanced usd 3750 of the usd 5000 cost and construction was supposed to start in April.

Permission to go ahead with the project was granted by the pertinent Architectural Review Committee.

In March I enquired by fax, addressed to a Becky Smith, when the work would commence in order to plan accordingly. After sending 3 faxes and receiving no reply, as well as not being able to contact the individual in question or anyone else at Transflorida for that matter, I managed to get hold of Richard Howe who commented that Transflorida was backed up and the work would only start in June.

This month I have tried in vain to get an answer from Transflorida as to when they plan to start the work and while a certain Karen promised to call me back twice with a reply, nothing has materialized.

I again contacted Richard Howe, who basically washed his hands of the whole affair stating that he had left the company in January, which makes me wonder how he made the comments he made in March about the work starting in June. He told me that I should forget about the project and consider myself lucky that I had only suffered a usd 3750 loss while other cases involved large sums of money.

I have travelled the world and after a 52 year working career I have never been ripped off in such a blatant manner.

Something must to be done about outfits like this.

I want refunding.
