Fidelity Security
Energy Saving Grant

Miscellaneous

I received a letter from Fidelity Security, Inc. And a check for $4,125.20 drawn on Leisters Furniture located at 433 Ridge AVenue, Hanover, PA 17331-9512 (888) 546-2399. The bank listed on the check is M&T (Manufacturers and Truckers Trust Company) with a phone number of (888) 828-2851.

In reality, there is a M&T Bank, but it's full name as I understand it is Manufacturers and TRADERS Bank based out of upstate New York.

The letter suggests that I can call to verify my grant, which does not need to be repaid, or I can pay $3,100.00 in taxes and administration fees to "collect" the remainder of my "award" or I can decline the offer and have the unclaimed award turned over to the state or province of my residence after the expiry date.

How ridiculous is this? I am fairly certain the 289 area code is in Canada, and the postmark on the envelope was also Canada. I like our neighbors up north just fine, but one of them is trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Be careful of this offer. I sent a report to the BBB also, and am awaiting their response.
