QSI - American Family Subscriptions
Ripoff Deceptive sales practices. Lies about donations to charitys

Miscellaneous

A very similar story to the one from California concerning QSI and the dishonest sale pitch of the sales person. Mine happened in suburban Detroit, Michigan.

In my case it was a very pretty young girl who knocked on my door and claimed to be raising money for a local college soccer team. She said they were selling these books which would be donated to charity in order to raise money for a soccer tournament in Hawaii later this month, June.

When I looked up her "name" (Jennifer) on the teams website I found no such person or anyone that looked close to her. I then emailed the teams coach and he told me that the team was not engaged in any fundraising at this time and he did not know this girl. Needless to say I had been scammed. Unfortunately I found out too late but I did cancel the check I wrote and at least saved most of my money.

Their secret is they catch you off guard and at a bad time. I was busy cleaning the house and should have never opened the door, but she looked like a nice girl and I didn't think she was really selling anything at first but she was real smooth and had her spiel down very pat. I should have known better and usually do but she "got me " that day when my guard was down. Please let everyone you know about these people and, send them to this website also, it is a great public service.

If they are claiming to be raising money for a local college ask them to come back in a few days
so you can check out their story. If they are legit they should not have a problem with that. The reality is though that most colleges can afford to send their teams on the road and do not need to go door to door selling stuff and phony subscriptions to raise money.
TC in Michigan.
