Trying to rip me off for an extra $300.00 in fraudulent fees

Going on five (5) years ago I lived at a property managed by Equity Residential. I gave the proper notice to the "Manager" of my intent to move. She said there would no problems and gave me my pro-rated rent amount due upon leaving which was going to be about 120.00

As rent day passed and we ere packed for moving (all this cleared with management) we were leaving to start our trip and found an EVICTION NOTICE on our door. Not once had we ever been late with rent or water. I tried to contact the manager but she was "out".

All of this had been cleared with her about paying the pro-rated rent when I left on the 5th of July. We were even transferring to another Equity Property in another state!!!

I attempted to call theri coporate office and work thinsg out but was stonewalled and told that this was the amount I owed regardless of what i had been told. I refused to pay. I fileda BBB report and they didn't care about that either still demanding monies theyw ere not owed.

They even claimed I moved on a completely different day which is impossible as I was living in another state, in ANOTHER EQUITY property on the days they claimed I still lived at the other location.

So for years no they have been sending me bills, put a negative on my credit rating, and still refuse to own up to what their authorized agent "THE MANAGER" agreed to. They are rdue and impossible to work with, I even have the tapes of the phone conversations between myself and their agent at their listed phone number to prove it.

Equity is a ripoff company that wants monies for services they are not owed and refuses to honor contracts made between their employees and residents. They can keep sending me fraudulent bills, and I'll keep feeding them to my shredder on a monthly basis. If you are moving to complex, check the management company, if it is EQUITY run away, and don't look back.
