Ripoff lost packages will not pay insurance

In November I mailed 3 packages of Christmas to family in Canada and insured each package for $300 and confirmed delivery. Two of the packages never arrived, and the other one did, but it was torn open and items were missing. The one item that was left in the package was broken (crystal vase). The post office refused to pay the insurance on the lost items and said they would only pay the insurance on the other if the broken pieces were sent to me as proof. Well guess what, that package also got lost coming to me and the post office refuses to do anything. The insurance and confirmed delivery are a total rip off. I contacted the postal inspectors and have not heard a word from them after registered letters and phone calls.
