People BEWARE!
I got my phone call from this company last night. First they have someone call you and make like they are pre-qualifying you for the program. He said he was running a credit check on me to make sure I qualified. This was very interesting considering he did not have my SSN nor did he get my verbal consent to do so (both are required).
So, after talking with this guy for a while I qualified for the next level. I spoke with the next person, Nick Duva, for a while and he wants to fax me an application that I have to fax back to him while I am on the phone. He tells me he is not allowed to do this in two phone calls. I told him I didn't have a fax machine available and it was not convenient for me to get to one. I guess that made the rules change. He gave me his number to call him back the next day (866 552-8845 Ext. 8671, in case anyone wants to call and say 'hello').
I called him back and did a Google search on Startup Essentials and I got to this site. I found read about the $140 monthly fee which I had not been told about by Nick so things got interesting. He faxed me the contract and I took my time reading it over while I kept him on hold. First thing I noticed was the laptop was pretty outdated and definitly would not last the life of the lease. Then I noticed the additional (minimum) $28 per month in changes for being a merchant. First payment of $140 will be deducted from your checking account in 12-17 days. There is no way for a person to take in money that quickly. The best anyone could do on this program is operate in the red (losing money) for only 6 monthes. After that I don't know how long it would take to make up the $1000 plus you are in the hole! I have a blank contract in hand, this thing is pretty scary. People BEWARE!
