I stupidly called the number on the post card to prove to my boyfried it was a scam... And I still got SCAMMED! Of course I was promised the same things as everyone else (free watches, free gas card, etc.) But I was determined not to give up any of my information. I said "no" over and over. And with each "no" I was thrown another "free" gift. Just giving them the # on the post card confirms your address for them to send you a bill.
They tell you the conversation is being recorded, but cannot produce the recording when you are trying to fight a bill for magazines that were never received (and neither were all the free gifts)!
I said "no" so many times to the telemarketer that she even told me that I could receive the "free" gifts if I gave her a credit card number that was either expired, over the limit or a closed account!
To date, I have NOT received anything from NME but a bill for $212 and a letter from a collection agency for the same! I tried calling both and was pretty much laughed at and was told over and over that they were sure I was enjoying the magazines (WHICH I NEVER ORDERED or RECEIVED).
My next correspondence is to the Better Business Bureau and Attorny General. I don't care how long this SCAM is on my credit report... I will never pay it.
