Is a dishonest company that makes unauthorized charges shocked when I found that $299.95 was deducted from my account! Said approved for a federal grant for $12,500 that does not exist!

I first encountered Advantage America in October when I was tricked into believing that I had been approved for a federal grant for $12,500 for having thousands of dollars for student loans. They claimed that there was a one time processing fee of $49.95 and stated that I would recieve the grant money in 4-6 weeks. They then proceded to give me a confirmation number that I was to give to my bank.

I was shocked when I found that $299.95 was deducted from my account on 11/3/05. I called Advantage America the same day trying to cancel the charge. They would not cancel the charge stating that it was already charged and they could not refund my money until six months later. I was on the phone with a filipino man for about an hour trying to get out of the scam, but it didn't work.

The weeks passed and there was not a cent deposited into my bank account. They called me again 12/23/05 saying that they got reports that patrons have not recieved their grant money and that it would be deposited within 24-48 hours. The prompt was saying that I would be charged $89.95, but I answered "NO" to the question. The woman assured me that nothing would be deducted from my account and verified this with me three time stating that I had already paid the membership.

Today, I look at my bank account and find that $89.95 is deducted from my account. I decied to look up Advantage America and I find rip off report when googling. Now that I know that they are a scam, I went over all of the deductions from my checking account to find that they have taken close to $500 out of my account! I am just comming off working a 12 hour night shift, but have managed to file a claim notified my bank and written this entry. Hopefully, these people are caught and put in jail for what they've done!
