Consumer Fraud against a small business by mail ripoff

I have seen a number of stories regarding small businesses that have been defrauded by American Transaction Supplies. I am adding this story in hopes that it will assist those who are fighting this companies fraudulent business practices. It's a rather pathetic, basic scam they are attempting and I couldn't help but laugh when I called them to discuss it with them.

They called one of my employees asked for her name, hung up, and proceeded to send us two boxes of supplies we can't possibly use. They then decided to send us a bill for $178.00, which has to be approximately 5 times the actual cost of whatever it is they sent us.

They referenced the employees name on the invoice and claimed that she authorized it. I called them up and they were absolutely rude and indignant about the whole thing. It was both hilarious and frustrating. I have an attorney on retainer and will have him follow up — hopefully that will convince them to crawl back in to the gutter.

I am a bit surprised they are still in business given all the complaints against them. I am going to file something with the New York attorney generals office — maybe it will help prevent these guys from doing it to other people. They seem like they're working really hard on their scam.

If they actually put this much effort into conducting legitimate business, they might actually be successful at something. Oh well. Hope this report helps the next guy they attempt to scam.
