I received a call today at aproximatley 5:45pm explaining to me that I have been selected out of 6.000 people to recieve a $12,500 cash government grant because I pay my taxes. Well, I was all ears until they asked for routing and account numbers. I explained to the person on the line that I didn't feel comfortable giving that type of information over the phone. He then said that I should put a freeze on the account. He also asked what I was so worried about, that I probably write checks all the time and nobody can do anything with a check unless it is signed. I ended up giving him my numbers, but hung up on the call when he tried to "transfer" me to a confirmation person.

Well, my husband was highly ticked at this point because the man on the phone told me that of all the American Citizens he had spoke with I had the most melodic and beautiful voice. This guy calls back like 3 times tonight, and finally my husband got on the phone with him and explained that I work for the phone company and the call was being traced and that we already notified the State Police... Which we had... Get this, the man on the phone stated that we were to hang up or we were F%$&@d. Thats right, you read that correctly, he said "Dude, hang up or you f&ed." We immediatley contacted our bank, which was closed and reported our checkbook stolen... I know thats not correct, but they do not have a 24 hour emergency line. Tomorrow my husband is going to the Bank to let them know of fraudilent activity on the account and to transfer all of our money into a different account during this emergency. The strangest thing out of all of this is that the man on the phone, new all of my information. Billing address, name, number, he even knew where I banked. He seemed legit, so all I can say is WATCH OUT!
