Ripoff Poor fence installation. Won't stand behind warranty

Cooper Fence Company did a $5000 fence installation in 2004 for our homeowners association. The association paid 1/2 up front and it took 12 months and dozens of phone calls (and legal action threats) to get this company to finish the job. They had every excuse in the book; including "it fell off the truck." I'm not kidding. I still have that email. I could have done the entire job myself in less time than I spent on the phone, mailing, emailing them and following up on what should have been a 2-3 day job.

The vinyl fence held up for about 3 months before the wind knocked out an entire section. The reason: No retaining bolts or clips were installed on the horizontal beams. Everything was simply press-fitted into place. I called the company, sent emails and US Mail on several occasions and no response. Now I am working with the State Attorney General's office on this issue. Apparantly, they have had several complaints about this company (go figure) and are deciding whether they have enough complaints to take action.in the meantime, our association will pursue this matter in court on our own.

My recommendation to all of you is to never do business with Cooper Fence Co. They do not deserve to be in business and it is my sincere hope that they go belly up after they pay court penalties and reimburse everyone they have ripped off. They are a disgrace to all of the honest and reputable fence contractors out there.
