Nick Brown - called for ripoff

Today, on May 4, I received a phone call from a guy who claimed to be Nick Brown stating that he works for Home Depot and I was one of 50 people to win a $200 shopping spree and 4 guest passes to the movie theatres. The guy was speaking in an Indian accent, so I immediately figured it was a prank. However, I didn't know this guy was serious. He said I would pay him AFTER I received the package, and I reluctantly agreed.

But then he asked me for my bank account number, and it immediately hit me that this is a scam. So I got as much information from that I could, which was his address and phone number. While talking to him on the phone, I decided to do a quick search of the address online. I found several companies at the same address, which obviously was no surprise. Then I typed in the word fraud in the keywords box next to the address and usacomplaints.com (this site) popped up with several complaints.

I immediately started playing with the guy. I decided to also talk in an Indian accent. Then I went back to my normal voice and told him that he made a huge mistake and called the Fremont Police Department (which was a lie, or course). I told him that our department was contacting the local authorities there and he would be in jail tomorrow. I told him that asking for anyone's account number is a fraud. I went a little more crazy on him, and he said "Ok sir, have a good day." That was awesome. I think I will prank call this place a few times for the hell of it.

I really hope these people get what they deserve, which is life in jail. However, people should be more aware and know that IF ANYONE EVER CALLS YOU AND ASKS FOR YOUR credit card number, account number, or any other PERSONAL INFORMATION on the phone, IT'S DEFINITELY A SCAM!!! Major companies, such as banks, phone companies, and etc. Would only ask for your information if YOU call them, not the other way around.
