Ripoff

They're still up and running. Similar to other complaints. Telemarketers called. All with Indian accents. They already had all my bank account information, however, wanted me to approve a charge of $3.95 to my checking account. They explained that they were from Home Depot Promotions Department and that they had a $200 gift voucher for me. They wanted me to tell them my account information (which they already had. Still I refused to say it) on a recorded line (I refused.) They explained they already had the information, that American Banking Association had given it to them and all I had to do was say it on a recording.

After I told them I would only give it out after I contacted Home Depot and approved who they were, they started getting pushier. They told me they were going to charge my account and that I could only stop them by telling them my account number so they could give me a tracking number. I still refused and told them I would be contacting the police. They left a message on my answering machine telling me again that they will charge my account if I do not give them my number on a recording.

I talked to the police that night and opened a new account at the bank the next morning. The bank is going to go after the company this time they said because I was able to provide them with information (which I found on the internet) about the company. So far nothing has been taken from my account. It's technically a victimless crime the police told me. They usually do not go after this; however, the bank will if you can provide them with a history or other information. I'd like to see these people prosecuted. It's a shame all the people I read on here who were ripped off.
