Entrepreneurs Across America
Ripoff (Rustin Gates)

Miscellaneous

An arrogant fellow by the name of Rustin Gates came to my door yesterday pitching magazines and looking nervous. I wasn't in for a subscription but gave him a $20 check to put toward a subscription for the St Jude Childrens Hospital.By the end of the evening as I went over the entire interaction again and again, I felt bad and knew I'd been ripped off... Or at best, this obnoxious person didn't deserve my support no matter how much he complained that the "older generation" were lazy and no longer supported young kids anymore.

He went on about how he'd been turned down "all day" and the neighborhood people weren't friendly. He tried to get into my house as well, asking if I had a kitchen table though I already stated my kids were sleeping just inside. He offered a hug and when I said my husband wouldn't like that, stated he didn't have to know. He talked fast and incessantly. The receipt provided me has none of my personal info save my signature. No check#, address, phone #... (some spaces he scratched off and told me to "just initial... It wasn't important"). The email address I was given is also not valid. I'm not usually gullable and suppose I was having an off day. It costs $30 to stop a $20 check, so I guess he got away with $20 from me. I'm writing this here so others are aware.
