Premier Benefits
Ripoff, tried to get verbal verification to charge my bank account "only" $3.95

Miscellaneous

I just got a call at 3:32 pm from some man with a thick middle eastern accent who was hard to understand. He claimed that my phone number had been selected to receive this promotional offer of free movie passes and a free shopping spree up to $200. He asked me for my first and last name and to verify my telephone number and address.

He was adamant that I didn't have to buy anything or sign any contract; all I had to do was write a check for $3.95 for the shipping and handling of this "expensive package." I was transferred to his "supervisor" who also had a thick, similar accent, who was going to transfer me to the "verification line."

By both men, I was asked if I had a check handy. They wanted me to write the check for $3.95 to "Premier Benefits", date it for today, and write their physical address on the back. I was supposed to keep it as a "receipt" from them, and I was told that I never had to mail the check, but to keep it. I was also supposed to write the package confirmation number on the back of the check to show to the delivery man who was supposedly going to be delivering the package by FedEx. I would get this so-called confirmation number when transferred to the verification line.

The supervisor attempted to get the check number and information from me before hand, but, as I was reluctant to do this, said that I could also give the check information when on the verification line. This "verfication" was going to include my verbal permission for them to charge my bank account, my acceptance of the offer, and my check information.

As I am always skeptical of telemarketers or anyone who tries to get information over the phone, so I googled "Premier Benefits" and "Premier Movie Passes" and the first three to five things that came up was how this was a scam and this website! I did not give them my check information and I suggest that you DO NOT give them ANY check or bank information either!

It was sketchy how they wouldn't let me mail the check in and how a different person called back just two hours later from the same company. This time it was a woman with an accent named "Alex" who seemed perplexed when I told her I had already received a call from them earlier.
These people seem sketchy and the offer seems too good to be true.

Seriously, a $200 shopping spree and several free movie passes that I could also get popcorn with, all just for promotional purposes? Yeah right. Think twice before ever giving anybody any personal info over the phone! You can live without whatever ridiculous, too-good-to-be true offer they claim you were selected for and DON'T give in no matter how persistent they are-it's not worth losing money over!
