Ripoff backed out of a written contract to build a home

I have a signed contract with this company to build my dream home. For the past 2 months they have ignoring us and not returning our phone calls. So I had my sister to phone Dave to see if he would answer, he did. My husband called right after and he picked up the phone. He explained to the builder how disrepected we felt about they way we were being treated.

We also asked him whether or not the were going to build our home. He explained to us that he would have to call us back in 30 minutes to answer that question. 5 hours later he leaves a message on my husband cell phone stating that they would not be able to build our home because of changes that increase the cost. There are no changes I said to myself. Our contract has not once changed from the date we signed in 8/23. I know
that he cannot just cancel a signed contract like this. Especially when we have made absolutely no changes from the original contract. Please someone tell me that this cannot be done. On the contract both parties had 3 days to cancel the contract.
