Foul taste / smell

Recently I've noticed a horrific taste and smell in the 12oz, 8 pack bottles, beginning a month ago. I originally purchased four 8 packs and returned to store for reimbursement. I attempted them again at a different store after a couple of weeks and same problem exist. I'll be returning once again. I am a loyal customer of years. The larger bottles and cans are not a problem and still taste right. I don't understand the sudden change in these 12oz bottles as I've been purchasing them for some time. Though diet sodas aren't the considered the healthiest choice, these taste as if they propose an additional health risk. I told the store manager they "taste like poison".
