Michigan Unemployment
Phone Assistance is Non Existent

Miscellaneous

I filed a (successful) unemployment claim online in the beginning of November. I received 2 weeks worth of benefits. I then received a determination that I wasn't eligible for a week because of vacation pay from my departing employer. The amount was incorrect, so I protested. I certified correctly and on time for the past two weeks, but the website now says an additional claim is necessary. No where did it say why or how to reopen. I figured it out. I tried calling OVER 100 times today to speak to a person to get this cleared up. Each and every time, I received a message stating they couldn't answer my call and to try again. The office is open until 4:30 EST and I tried repeatedly until 4:25, when the phone system wouldn't even answer. I am depending on these benefits to make my house payment, but how am I supposed to get anything resolved when you can't speak to anyone and the website is useless? I also emailed via MiWAM, but I'm not expecting a prompt response, as I emailed on 11/18 and have yet to receive a response on that issue. Way to help people who need it!
