Uhaul and Repwest Insurance
Uhaul insurance company Repwest Insurance denied valid claim - UHaul truck rentals

Contracted with movers through Uhaul website and when movers were unloading truck they told me there was a leak coming from a hole in the "mother's attic" section of the truck. Books, movies, mattresses, bar stool and dinning room chair damaged. Movers took pictures of leak with water still dripping. Took pictures of wet boxes, wet blankets, and wet belongings and filed claim immediately. Sent listing and appraisal for repair of bar stools and dinning room chairs, along with pictures. Heard nothing from adjustor and when I asked for status was told my claim was denied because independent adjustor had said there was no leak in the truck. Movers agreed to provide statement and so did I but adjustor never contacted us to provide any statement. Adjustor said that Uhaul policy says they provide water resistant trucks but do not guarantee waterproof trucks. A hole in the roof of the truck is neither water resistant or waterproof. I intend to fight the denial of this claim. The adjustor requested I provide additional documentation even though she used the basis of the denial based upon the independent adjustor stating there was no leak. I provided a picture showing the leak. I will be getting statements from the movers to send to the adjustor. Guess it was too much trouble for her to call and get their statements. Easier just to deny the claim. Uhaul agent told me they always try to deny claims filed. Emailed CEO of Uhaul and requesred he (Joe Schoen) provide his opinion. I am an adjustor and I have never seen such poor claims handling/business practices.
