Ordered DTV last year when they had a "special offer" I had had DTV years ago when Verizon and DTV has a combined offer. I had no problem with them at that time and only switched because FIOS came into my area.

When I signed up, I got the Whole Home DVR. The advertised rate was much less than I ended up with due to the fine print, but what got me was that the interruptions in service were much greater than previous and the DVR not only stopped recordings hows for no reason but the extra unit was lose track of the DVR and force us to reboot the DVR just to use the other TV. IF you did this when a show was recoding you lost the rest of the show.
Each time I called I was told "atmospheric conditions" for the signal and told to just delete the show and re-add it for the lost recording. I called at least once a month. It wasn't until I called to cancel they even offered to send someone out despite having the protection plan. At that point they told me I had a $300 cancellation fee despite the problems. The supervisor even claimed I never called since January (8 months ago), which is obviously a lie since they have made numerous programming changes for me since then (you don't find out that most of the channels they offer are "filler" channels until later).
These people have become liars and cheats, and customer service is more interested in pushing you into the next higher package than fixing your issues. NEVER sign a contract, they feel once you are in a contract they don't have to help you.
