Ripoff fraudulent billing

HDI Connections made a fraudulent charge to my credit card for $149.95 for an "entertainment membership" that I did not authorize.

When I was checking my credit card balance online I noticed a charge that I didn't recognize. I called the 800 number listed by the charge to investigate further. I was told that this was a membership that I agreed to via a catalog purchase I made from "Hannover." I replied that I have never heard of Hannover and had not made any catalog purchases from any such company. The representative was very unhelpful and rude and said that there was nothing that he could do for me.

At that point, I called my credit card company to see what they could do to help me. I was transferred to an account manager who called the same 800 number for HDI Connections while I was also on the line. We spoke with a different representative of HDI who explained again that I had enrolled for an entertainment membership. I again explained that I did not want membership to this club and demanded that I be removed from their membership list and that my card be credited.

When the representative started to object, the account manager from my credit card stepped in and told the HDI employee that he must comply with my request, citing some law that I am not familiar with. Immediately, the HDI representative said that my membership would be cancelled and my card would be credited in the next 1-2 billing cycles. I guess I will have to wait and see.

I was very much impressed by the support from my credit card company, but very unimpressed by HDI and their fraudulent tactics.
