I caught him in my lot, and had to FORCE him to give my money back!

Everyone should get a kick out of this one...
A sweet and salesman-like "Matt" came to my door with a similar story of "We sell magazines... We're marketing students... If I win I go to Cancun, blah blah blah...". No big deal, right? I agreed to buy a magazine (since I have a serious lack of periodic literature in my house). Then the putz nearly DEMANDS that I buy two. It would have totaled almost $100. Hmm, that's just odd. So I told him "No thanks. No really, I don't want it."
He seemed pretty pissed off, but I let it slide and let him go with a check for $38.00. I thought that was still a pretty steep price for a 1-month subscription, so I checked out this website and found the numerous reports on PMI and their bogus business tactics.
So hunted I around my apartment complex for this kid, finally found him, and called him over. I told him I was no longer interested in the magazine, and I wanted my check back. HE ABSOLUTELY REFUSED! I said, in not so nice terms, to give my money back, or I'd get the off-duty police officer to grab him. He tried to get huffy, and told me I could have the money back if I gave him the two bottom receipts.
Naturally this pissed me off. I said "no", just tear up the copy you have, give me my check, and go about your merry way.
He refused again. He said it would cost him $50 and he was accountable for that (he looked rather pained when he said it, so I think I believe him on that. It doesn't surpise me how they probably abuse these kids financially).
He continued to ask why I wanted my money back, and I told him I researched his company of Usa Consumer Complaints.com and the BBB.
He had the NERVE to say that they weren't reliable sources, and that the NFSA or whatever its called is the only source for magazine sales. Okay, I had enough at that point.
He said to go get the receipts. I told him to come with me, because I KNEW he would try to make a run for it. So I stood there.
And stood there. And stood there some more.
He even claimed that no one would help me if they drove by and I flagged them down. So he sat down on the curb a chucked his show in my direction, kind of in a way to prove he wouldn't "run off". I wasn't falling for it.
Just when he chucked the shoe, a neighbor drove by and slowed down when I waved to her, and I grabbed his shoe (and wouldn't you know it, he tried to grab it and run. But I was quicker).
I threw the shoe in her window and said "Could you hold this for a sec? He has my money, he's a solicitor, and I need to get his receipts." He tried to argue with her, but she sat there calmly and waited.
I came out, gave him the receipts, and he he gave me my check. Of COURSE he wouldn't give me the other half with my info on it and ran off, all the while throwing profanities in my directions (great salesmanship, huh?), but at least he doesn't have my money!
So if anyone has received bills for mags they didn't pay for or want, let me know what you're doing about it. I don't think they'll do anything, but if they do, I'm ready to hunt them down again!
Stay away from these guys. Unfortunately, they give reputable fund-raising a bad name. Now even the Boy Scouts or marching bands can't go door to door to raise money or earn points for trips. Such scumbags.
