Ripoff I will personally never allow this to happen again, and wanted to warn others

Miscellaneous

"Joe" came to my apartment door tonight 10.3.03 and told me about his magazine sale that was going to earn him points so he could go to the Bahamas. I was cautious, but listened.

He told me how I was his "last chance" and he had won 3 times previously. He kept going back to how I could purchase a magazine called "GamePro" for my son and send it to him as a gift. I asked him how old he was, he responded 23.

Then he mentioned how my son (who was playing playstation at this time) would love this magazine because it had a ton of playstation stuff in it. He then mentioned he had an 8 year old daughter. I questioned him and asked, "so you had your daughter at 15?" He responded, "Yes the day after he turned 15." He then mentioned my neighbor had bought some magazines.

By this point he asked to come in and sit down, nearly pushing himself in the door, claiming he had a bad knee. I listened to him for a while longer, and decided to help him out.

I bought one magazine for my son for $35.97. Then "Joe" gave me the receipts and left. I immediately went to my neighbors and compared his stories, which were inconsistent. I went back to my house and looked up Palmetto Marketing INC on the internet and found a ton of Rip off reports.

I then used online banking to place a stop payment on the check I had just written and went immediately to my neighbors. We found "Joe" in another apartment and waited patiently for him to exit.

I explained what I had found out about his employer. He told me to talk to his "Manager." His manager pulled up in a van, and they started asking for "Joe." "Joe" then explained the situation, to which his manager told me that I just needed to have faith in the seller. I explained what I had found to his manager (who wouldn't let me finish a sentence without overtalking me). I told them I was sorry but wanted my check back, my neighbor did the same to which his manager yelled, "SORRY IS A BOARD GAME!" I repeated for him to return my check, I returned their receipts, and so did my neighbor.

I will personally never allow this to happen again, and wanted to warn others. When I asked him who he worked for, "Joe" told me FMSA. It was until I further inspected the receipt that I found it was Palmetto Marketing INC and did the research.
