Miscellaneous

My husband and I were shopping at camping world and was approached by a man who wanted us to allow him to give us a "free" 3 night camping at an RV resort - we could pick our location-as they had several to choose from - we told him we were not interested as we did not want to buy into a "membership" for a RV resort - we were told "nothing to buy - just enjoy the free camping and all they ask is that we take a 90 minute tour of the facilities". We got a call from Ocean Properties - the parent company for the Rv resorts in question - and they set up for our "free" weekend of camping at their resort in glen rose, tx - about 1 and 1/2 hr drive from our home - we told them we were not interested in buying into their resort and was assured bu them - no sales pressure - just a chance to show us their facilities and enjoy the weekend - when we arrived at tres rios on june 21st we were set for the "tour" for 9am on june 23rd - NO ONE gave us any information about the facilities of tres rios - we were there for 2 nights not knowing anyting about the place approx 6pm on june 22 we get a call from ocean properties sales office wanted to move our "tour" to june 24th -we were departing on june 23 and I told them this when we got there on june 21st-so they set the "tour" for noon on 6/23- when we arrived for the "tour" the first thing is "high pressure sales tactics" to buy into their membership - packages starting at $5,000 and $500 a year to maintain the membership - we kept telling them we were not going to buy - this was a given before we made the trip - so they wanted to give us "gifts" of 2 nights motel stays and other things - again we told them we are not going to buy - when they realized we could not be brainwashed into buying their membership the sales people turned "vicious", hateful and totally unprofessional - we excuse dourselves and left the "resort"- but I can tell anyone who might be thinking about tres rios - it is NOT worth the time and effort to get there - it is nothing short of run-down, the activites they set up are "left-overs" ie.- their ice cream bar - a little of this and a little of that - melted cheap ice cream and the building it was in had no air conditioning working - it was in the mid 90's outside! The rv spots have barren weeded areas that needed to be mowed - they have no cable hookups-they had a "taco nite" all you eat - boy what ajoke - again a little of this and a little of that - but nothing worth the effort - and they also served cold pizza with it - and these things were NOT free so really it was not worth the cost they charged - ALL in ALL - tres Rios is a big bad JOKE - we spoke with 3 of its "members" and all of them wished they had NOT ever signed a membership contract - they also think the place is a JOKE - and the same thing happened to my duaghter when she went to tres rios - RUDE unacceptable sales people and a weekend of doing NOTHING - beacuse they couldnt even get to the pool because it was always full of Kids and their floatie toys from 10 am to 10 pm EVERY DAY - and their river trails - you cant even get to the river unless you are part mountain goat and can scale the side of the cliff
