Illegal mechanics lien

Contractor performed unacceptable work on my home. Job was a 23,000.00 room addition and patio. Upon completion concrete slab for patio slanted toward room addition causing flooding in room when ever it rained. Concrete slab also cracked to unacceptable level.
Contractor refused to repair or fix problem and demanded his final payment of 4,700.00 which I refused and did not pay. Contractor placed a mechanics lien on my home without notifying me or giving me a opportunity to dispute his claims. Only now seven years later am i aware of this lien.
