Gary Faulkes, Kenlite Gunite — Violates contractor laws attempts to extort extra money W

William Faulkes of Kenlite Gunite, in addition to being a cement contractor, is also an "attorney." He bid one price for the gunite work on our pool thru our landscaper, completed the job, then asked for more money because (a) he made a mistake reading our plans and; (b) said he had had to pay all material subcontractors in advance. We then received a 20 day preliminary notice from the subcontractor — because Gary Faulkes lied. He had not paid the cement subcontractor. Then, he invoiced us for an even higher amount — and demanded to be paid in cash. When we called Mr. Faulkes in his capacity as an attorney for his client (himself), he promised to have a lien release for us within the hour. We never received it. We ended up having to pay the subcontractor with a jointly made out check. Mr. Faulkes placed an illegal and invalid mechanics lien on our home. He threatened us with foreclosure. We have now hired an attorney to get the invalid lien removed. We then discovered Mr. Faulkes has no workmen's compensation on Kenlite Gunite. He also refused on three separate occasions to give us his contractors license number. Do not hire kenlite or mr. Faulkes.
