Account sent to collections after GAP insurance paid out

This company has put my account into collections after it was totaled. I did have GAP insurance on this vehicle, and I spoke with an employee concerning my rights during this transaction. I was told that once GAP paid, I would be responsible for the remaining balance. I called the GAP insurance company, and they did pay out on this account. I need assistance with this matter because this company is refusing to remove this bad information from my credit report.
