Was approached by Ms. Barber a week prior on another job I was completing to come to her home off Headland Ave the following weekend. I seen she had electrical issues (2), one ceiling fan issue, and some wood trim work in a bathroom. Upon my arrival that fateful day to fix her issues, she was out shopping? Finally Ms. Barber arrived 40 mins later and I begun her repairs. Her outlets around the kitchen countertop were inoperable after recent tile backsplash install. I immediately began my investigation, and after several times questioning Ms. Barber about the events that led up to her problem, I gained no knowledge other than to trace out the problem. About an hour had gone by and I had it narrowed down to one outlet by her sink, when... All the sudden Ms. Barber pointed out a wire not in the outlet that I was still working on. After attaching it, and restoring power, all was well. I also was asked to install an outside soffit security light which had to be installed and wired to the outside breaker box below the meter. Upon completing this task, and adjusting the ceiling fan in a bedroom, I was presented with $50.00! Knowing, being in this field, that she could never get even ONE item fixed for that amount, I told her to call someone else on her other issues and left. This a COMMON scam some homeowners use by bundling different things for you to do without paying for any of it until THEY decide HOW much they are going to pay for your services. Unfortunately yes, she is black, and I don't know if this has a bearing on her behavior, but not knowing anything about this person up to my repairs, she sure had alot of my knowledge about the ethnic group (blacks) that are the majority of my business...
