St Anthony Hospital
Discriminted against at St. Anthony hospital 2013

Miscellaneous

I went in to the hospital on 2-26 for a scheduled out patient (Day) angio procedure. That went well as far as DR Altman and the ecovery room nurses were GREAT! After that procedure it is required to lay flat on your back at least 8 hrs. Being that procedure wasn't started until 11:30ish I wasn't allowed to go home and was sent to room 312 for the night. Everything went very well through the night. Then right when the day shift nurses came on shift it all went south. I had a room right by the nurses station where I had to listen to them complain about how night shift does nothing, about how busy they were, about how they didn't want to give patient their showers. It was AWFUL laying there listening to them complain about taking care of us patients. After laying flat for 24 hrs I knew that I needed to walk around so I went into the hall as I usually do after this procedure (many, many) times - to walk and get my leg going and get o cup of coffee. I could hear two nurses at the station talking badly about me and say that I shouldn't be out there which is strange as I have ALWAYS been told to do that afterwards. Next thing I know Rebecca (one of the day nurses) came in with a gown and said I was on isolation because I had MRSA. I DON"T have MRSA. I did in about 2009 but was treated and cleared of it. I went through this same thing 2 years ago at this same facility.in a nut shell they wanted 1 less patient to HAVE to take care of so I was isolated-FLAT DISCRIMINATED against. The prior 24 hours that I was there I wasn't on isolation. When I expressed this to the charge nurse Stacey. She tried to turn the day shifts wrong doing onto the recovery room nurses. I told her they were GREAT in recovery. I told her that I didn't appreciate being talked about and discriminated against when I was only there for care and I left. Their job is to care for people so I think it extremely unethical to come on shift and complain about it at the cost of patients hurt feelings. Every time I have stayed there I have been treated like this by the staff and this time I am taking action. A patient should not have to feel like they are in jail there because a few day shift nurses come on duty in a bad mood. My Dr. Altman is and has been a wonderful surgeon. It is terrible that after that many years of school and making a great career for himself that the nurses can and do run his patients off as they finally have me. They should be fired and their jobs giving to those that are looking to work for their pay. It really scares me that we pay to be abused in the hospital. I will never step foot in that hospital again. Please look into this. Greatly appreciate your time in this matter, Kathleen Werner 720-227-8638
