Today I had to do Calculus homework, but I forgot my Calculus book at school. I searched the book and immediately went to the publisher's website to access the e-version of the book, but it seemed as if their server was down and I desperately needed the book immediately so I continued to search, Playflex.net advertised that they had the book, so I signed up. I input my credit card but didn't think much of it due to the fact that I was signing up for the free trial. There were multiple tricks on the site trying to make me pay for the "free" trial but I found ways around them and finally created my account. When I signed in, I instinctively clicked on the "Books" section and a text box popped up that read "You will be charged $9.99 to upgrade your account." I clicked okay without worry, for I was simply searching for a book and continued the search. I then realized they didn't even have my Calculus book and went to cancel my account, but there was another trick. They charge $1.00 to deactivate accounts via email. So I decided I was going to call in the morning instead. I then checked my email and discovered PayFlex had charged me $9.99 for my "upgrade." I was simply searching for a book! This is insane! I didn't download a book or game or movie, yet I have to pay a fee? I know my ignorance and desperation is to blame but I do not want anyone to be tricked like I was.
