My mom googled "yahoo support" to help with an email issue. She got the number (which apparently was WRONG) and was transferred to these people who informed her the issue was that her computer was infected and needed immediate attention. Before she knew it, they were connected to her computer and downloading and uploading stuff. They told her they would need payment of 200$, she refused at first and they then dropped it to 180$. She is not very knowledgeable of computers and didn't realize at first how sketchy this was. She gave them the information and then called me, and I told her to shut the computer DOWN but the damage was already done... They had her money and credit #. She said they were extremely 'pushy and aggressive' for the money (which should have been a sign but like I said, she knows NOTHING about how computers work or the industry.) So now she has to contact all the credit bureaus and cards to change the info, thanks to these people. Why hasnt Yahoo issued a warning yet about the support number being false is my question...
