I received a call regarding my eligibility for a grant which i thought was great since i am currently experiencing some monetary difficulties. The representative who's thick Guatemalan accent just couldn't be disguised by her all too American name; Cindy Smith. She offered me a deal that i could join for $3.87 and I would receive government grant assistance. I asked to speak to her manager and he, also foreign with a very American name, eventually let it slip that I'd have to pay 57.99 after the trial period and that it would automatically be deducted. If by know I hadn't figured out this was a scam well then I would have deserved it wouldn't I? So I let me try to back pedal but then I started laughing and hung up thus avoiding the loss of money on a pretty good scam. Don't fall for it.
TL;DR: Just don't fall for it. It's a scam (albeit a brilliant one) and will get you nothing but a lighter pocket and an empty wallet.
