Miscellaneous

An India native speaking person called me to speak about getting my application started for a government grant that I had signed up for eons ago. As I am always skeptical I asked for the business name, main contact phone number and his name. He reported his company was US Financial Resources with a main telephone line of 18005580064... What clued me in was when I asked for his name he told me his name was Jason. When I asked what his last name was he said Smith and then spelled it out. At that point he asked for $3.87 for a setup fee of the account. Now, I know that the governemnt is having hard times, but I also know that they don't charge their people for applying for a grant via telephone. So I declined and hung up the phone. I proceeded to Google US Financial Resources and found on usacomplaints.com that they had 57 complaints listed there. So I decided to call the number given and it is a number that processes customer calls for a few different companies... US Financial Resources was one of them. The sad thing is the guy who answered was American. I asked to be placed on the DNC list. I only gave them the amount of information that they had which was my first name and telephone number. Since I refused to give my last name he said he couldn't guarantee anything. I urge everyone else to call 18005580064 to get placed on the DNC list.
