Ripoff taxpayers scam

On October 3 I received a call from an unknown #. I answered and a woman said hello then a man with a thick asian/indian accent got on the phone telling me that I have been chosen to receive a $12,500 grant from the federal government for paying my taxes. He asked my name and birthdate which I gave him. He also said I would receive a $500 grocery card. I then asked him how much this would cost and he said $49.95. I told him I didn't have $50 and asked how had I qualified for the grant. He stated that if I payed taxes last year then I qualified to be the only person in California to receive this grant. He gave me the name of his company, Advantage America and his name, Kevin Watson (which was obviously not his name) and his phone # with ext. 786. Then asked if I had a valid checking account I said yes but do I need to give you my account # and he stated that this was a bank to bank transaction and how did I expect to get my money. I said I didn't feel comfortable giving that info and that I had been scammed before. He then started yelling that this wasn't a scam he worked for the government and I was getting $12,500. I said I don't have any money anyways, he said I had two days to get it together and couldn't I ask friends and family for the money. I said no. Again he started telling me that this was $12,500 that we were talking about. I said no thank you and he told me to ask myself if I was willing to just give up the money because I was uncomfortable I said yes and hung up the phone. Then I looked them up on the internet and found rip-off which states pretty much the same thing. Don't fall for it the government isn't that great.
