Miscellaneous

About a year ago, I called AT&T because I wanted to compare rates due to the high charges I was receiving from Time Warner for a bundle package including internet, TV, and phone. AT&T could only provide satellite service for tv which wasn't allowed at the apartment I was at, at the time. I had called for an estimate but never authorized an install. I came home from work to find a note on my door stating request had been completed. Turns out AT&T took the liberty to disconnect the service I had without my authorization and installed their equipment with which I had no account for. I had no service for a couple of days as I had to wait on them to remove their equipment and put things back as they were. After this incident, i was billed for a service I didn't want in the first place much less never used. I called and was told it would be taken care of, that I shouldn't have been billed.in a few days a package shows up from AT&T with their equipment to install, I called again and was told just to return box and it was no problem. I did as was instructed, after two weeks another box shows up from AT&T, again I called, bill still hadn't been taken care of and was told to send second package back and all would be fine. I moved out of apartment, didn't see any more boxes come but bill wasn't settled either. It has been close to a year later and I have received another bill from AT&T for a measly 26.00 that shouldn't have been billed for in the first place and was already to have been taken care of by AT&T customer service twice now. I also received a notice from bay area credit service as this has now been turned to collections as well. I had my service of a different provider at that time, interrupted without consent, have spent quite a bit of time sending AT&T's packages back when I didn't want them in the first place, was promised charges were taken care of that shouldn't have been there, and now my credit score is affected to top it all off. I received no service from AT&T other than flat out robbery and persistent headache just for calling to get a quote. I'm currently researching legal stance against AT&T for disruption in service I had at the time, the time I've had to spend sending their stuff back, being on hold with their operators that didn't do as they said, and now for attempting to hurt my credit by sending a $20 bill to collections that shouldn't have existed in the first place. I will spend far over $20 in legal costs and court but it boils down to the principality and absurdity of the matter. I will go at every avenue I can to warn people of the business practices of AT&T.
