Charged Extra $5 for Package Strengthening Never Disclosed

I was deciding on the best delivery method to get a package from Seattle to Sacramento in two days. I decided to go with FedEx Ground over USPS Priority. It turns out I should have gone with USPS Priority. For around the same price, my brother-in-law got his package, mailed the same day to the same address, there in two days, while my package still has not made it. Not only that, I was asked if I wanted to strengthen my package but was not told I would be charged an extra five dollars for it. I kind of feel like I was shaken down for five dollars.
