Miscellaneous

I bought a 2008 second hand Kia from a used car dealership in Puerto Rico. It was in excellent condition and I paid over the normal amount it would have been in USA since cars are more expensive in Puerto Rico. I am half European and was relocating to Europe and as a result I was curious if moving my car would be worth it. After much research and a conversation with Kia Italy as well as Kia Puerto Rico and my movers, I was assured: A. MY WARRANT WAS HONOURED GLOBALLY (it was not and my car arrived with less than 30K miles so was under warranty). The movers, who only charged me $800 extra to add it to my container did not ship it correctly. Given I got an insurance pay out BUT that would have gone to repairing the damage it sustained as a result of their negligence. (Mainly body damage but as it is not under warranty and most Kia dealerships tell me they have NO clue what a Kia Optima 2008 is they will do no more than shut an electrical light off or check my fluids—at most). I have called every imaginable Kia headquarters, am unable to contact Korea as the number I am repeatedly given is incorrect but I have now been told; A. My car is worth nothing here and cannot even be registered as there is no italian guide and even if there were it would cost more to insure than the car was worth and nobody could service it. B. The body damage would cost more than the car is worth as all parts would have to come from korea. C. I may as well scrap it. I attempted to see if sending it back to USA was feasible but after costs to send and repairs the car would not be worth shipping back. I simply want to trade it in at a fair value or get an equal car without paying extra. I have, until now, always loved Kia and found them dependable. This is ridiculous and further the gas/petrol is not the same here as it is in USA/Puerto Rico as it goes through petrol like water. I simply want to a fair resolution and someone to discuss this with me. I sent a car under warrantee that sustained damage and is now illegally here and for all practical purposes—3K dollars would make it a 10K car (minimum) and here it is worthless and nobody will help me. Kia has to take responsibility for the misrepresentation of their dealers.
