I received a letter with the heading of "Premier Sweepstakes Promotion"/ Sweepstake Management and Payment Center, 3774 Union Road, Buffalo NY 14225. Claim No. CS-2183-QS, with a very real looking check made out directly to me in the amount of $3,000. The heading on the check was "State Farm Mutual Insurance Company", JP Morgan Chase Bank, NA, Columbus, OH N5Y 6M7.
The letter stated that I was guaranteed a sum of $70,000 and the $3000 check was to hep offset the tax fee of $1,980. It also stated they would send me the balance of $67,000 after I contacted their office. I realized this was a scam immediately but here are thousands of unsuspecting elderly people who would fall for this scam. At the bottom of the letter it also gave 3 more addresses: "Head Office" 22B Whitehall Rd, London UK; 3774 Union Road, Buffalo NY; 178 West Avenue, Qeens Wellington, Australia.
