Emailfinder.com
Falsely claims it can identify owner of email accounts

Internet & Web

This company claims in its introductory page that it can identify the owner of any email accounts for an annual charge of about $24. It is not true. I paid the money and entered my personal email addresses, my business account address (which is available on a biography page on line), my wife's internet address, my sons' internet addresses and they all came back with no information available after supposedly searching Facebook, LinkedIn, and a large variety of other resources. This is what it says despite the fact that I know we all have multiple such accounts linked to our email addresses. It is a complete fraud. And it has a "policy" of no refunds after you find this out.

The web site then says that if you want a "professional search, " to identify the owner, that will cost $99.00 for each search. Why would you pay $24 to be told you now get to pay another $99 to get what you thought you just paid for? What it doesn't tell you until after you have paid your money is that email accounts at Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc are confidential, so all you can get is a screen saying that the name of the owner is "unlisted." So you pay $24 to be told what you already know—that you can't find out the name of the email account's owner. This is a classic ripoff.
