Aol
Ripoff unauthorized charges to 2 of my credit cards Internet

Internet & Web

In August, I found a charge from AOL on one of Visa cards for $23.90. As I do not have an AOL account, I called them and after a lot of discussion/argument, they finally agreed to reimburse the fee and cancelled the non-existent account.

Today, I checked another credit card and found that the day they reimbursed one card, they charged another and have added a 2nd charge in September.

Their Customer Support person told me he could not reimburse the charges because they had my name, address, and credit card details.

He told me that they received a phone call on June 11 asking for a 2-month free trial. On June 11 I was in Thailand in the middle of a 23-day business trip through the ME and Asia.

He then said he would put me through to the "Cancellation Department", gave me their phone number 1-888-265-8008, and promptly cut me off. When I called the number, I was put back through the regular AOL Support System and had to go through the whole routine again. This time the women did manage to connect me to this "Cancellation Department" but I was told there was a 25-minute wait.

I have no idea how they got my information. I have hi-speed at home and use company specific connections when traveling.

UNBELIEVABLE that this can happen without any apparent fall-out for AOL.
