In January, I received an AT&T offer in the mail: 1) Home phone service (no frills) for $16/month; 2) Long distance for $4/month; 3) Internet service for $14.95/month. I signed up for the offer. I was told my first bill would be larger due to covering 1.5 months. Still, I was told to expect, with taxes/fees, monthly bills of $42.55. I paid the first bill of nearly $75. Then they sent me online my second bill — NOT ITEMIZED — for $75. You know what it's like getting a hold of AT&T. A day later, I reached someone, who "explained" to me that the home phone rates went up since I signed on.in addition, my long distance would be $14/month because I had not bundled services. He was totally disregarding the WRITTEN OFFER these thieves had sent me! He told me the only way he could lower my bill would be if I added call waiting, caller id, 3-way calling, etc. Etc. And bundled my services. Then he would "alter" my bill to $61.99/month. I had no paperwork in front of me, so I said, fine, then I went home and paid the bill, which was about to be late by this time. But then I found my paperwork. I was LIVID at what this company knowingly did. I called back again and was immediately told that they would put me back on the old ($42.55/month) plan, get rid of the services I don't need or want, and that a supervisor would call me to discuss the credit they would put on my account due to overcharging. E.G. They admitted they had done wrong, and they admitted they overcharged me. BUSTED!
Well, no one has contacted me. They left the services on my phone.
I have NEVER — I mean NEVER — known a national company to so boldly scam and cheat customers in this way.
